We believe in the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit being one.

1. የእምነት መሠረቶች / Our Beliefs

1.1 የቤተ ክርስቲያን ትርጉም
  • የእግዚአብሔር ማደሪያ ቅዱስ ስፍራ ዘፍ ፳፰፡፲፮-፲፯፤ ፩ ነገ ፱፡፩-፫፤ ፪ ዜና ፯፡፲፩-፲፮
  • የእያንዳንዱ ክርስቲያን ሰውነት ዮሐ ፲፬፡፳፫፤ ፩ ቆሮ ፫፡፲፮-፲፯፤ ፩ ጴጥ ፪፡፭፤ ራእ ፫፡፳
  • የክርስቲያኖች አንድነት/ኅብረት ማቴ ፲፰፡፳፤ ሐዋ ፰፡፩-፫፤ ፲፩፡፳፭-፲፮
1.1 Definition of Church
  • The sacred place and indwelling house of God. Genesis 28:16-17; 1 Kings 9:1-3; 2 Chronicles 7:11-16
  • The body of each and every Christian. John 14:23; 1 Corinthians 3:16-17; 1 Peter 2:5; Revelation 3:20
  • The communion of Christians. Matthew 18:20; Acts 8:1-3; 11:25-26; 1 Peter 5:13
1.2 መጽሐፍ ቅዱሳዊ መሠረት

ብሉይ ኪዳን፡ የኖኅ መርከብ፣ ቤቴል፣ የመገናኛው ድንኳን፣ የሰሎሞን መቅደስ።

ሐዲስ ኪዳን፡ ክርስቶስ መሥራች ነው። ቅዱስ ዮሐንስ አፈወርቅ በዓለ ኀምሳን "የቤተ ክርስቲያን የልደት ቀን" ይለዋል።

1.2 Biblical Foundation

Old Testament: The Ark of Noah, Bethel, The Tent of Meeting, Synagogue, The Temple of Solomon.

New Testament: Christ is the founder. St. John Chrysostom referred to Pentecost as: The birthday of the Church.

The Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed

“And we believe in one, holy, universal, apostolic church.”

Council of Nicaea (A.D 325) • Council of Constantinople (A.D 381)

2. የህንፃ ቤተ ክርስቲያን / Church Building

ዓይነቶች፡ ዋሻ፣ ደብረ (ክብ/ስምንት ማዕዘን)፣ እና መስቀልኛ።

ክፍሎች፡ ቅኔ ማኅሌት (ለዜማ)፣ ቅድስት (ለቍርባን)፣ እና መቅደስ (ታቦት የሚኖርበት)።

ቤተልሔም፡ የቍርባን ኅብስትና ወይን የሚዘጋጅበት (በምስራቅ በኩል)።

Types: Cave Churches, Round (Octagonal), and Cross-like (Rectangular).

Sections: Quine-Mahelet (Hymnody), Queddest (Communion), and Maqdes (Sanctuary for the Ark).

Bethlehem: House of bread; consecrated chamber for Eucharistic prep at the Eastern side.

የሰጎን እንቁላል፡ በጉልላቱ ላይ የሚደረግ (የእግዚአብሔርን ጥንቃቄና ጥበቃ ያሳያል)።

ጫማ ማውለቅ፡ ለቅዱስ ስፍራ አክብሮት። ዘፀ ፫፡፭፤ ኢያሱ ፭፡፲፭

Ostrich Eggs: Symbolize God's divine providence and constant contemplation on the rooftop.

Shoes: Removing shoes as a sign of reverence to the indwelling house of God. Exodus 3:5-6

3. ወደ ምስራቅ መዞር / Facing the East

  • ምስራቅ የብርሃን መገኛ (ክርስቶስ የጽድቅ ፀሐይ)።
  • ገነት በምስራቅ ስለነበረች ናፍቆታችንን ለመግለጽ።
  • የክርስቶስ ዳግም ምጽዓት ከምስራቅ ስለሚሆን።
  • East is source of light (Christ, Sun of Righteousness). Malachi 4:2
  • Garden of Eden was in the East; aspiration to Paradise. Genesis 2:8
  • The glorious Second Coming of Christ will appear in the East. Acts 1:11

4. የመስቀል ትርጉም / The Holy Cross

ዓይነቶች፡ የእጅ መስቀል (ለምርቃት)፣ የዑደት መስቀል፣ ማተብ (የአንገት መስቀል)።

ቁሳቁሶች፡ እንጨት (ስቅለት)፣ ብር (ክህደት)፣ ወርቅ (ንጽሕና)።

Types: Hand Crosses (Blessing), Processional Crosses, and Neck Crosses (Matab).

Materials: Wood (Crucifixion), Silver (Betrayal), and Golden (Purity/Kingship).

Feast of the Holy Cross (Masqal) — September 27th.

5. ዕጣን / Incense & Symbolism

ዕጣን ወደ ሰማይ እንደሚወጣ ጸሎት ነው። መዝ ፻፵፪፡፪

ደመናው፡ የእግዚአብሔርን ክብርና መገኘት ይገልጻል። ዘፀ ፳፬፡፲፭-፲፮

Incense symbolizes prayer with fragrant aroma ascending before God. Psalm 142:2

The Cloud: Refers to the divine presence and glory of the Lord. Leviticus 16:13

6. መብራትና ሻማ / Lights & Candles

ዘይት፡ የመንፈስ ቅዱስ ምሳሌ ነው። ሻማ፡ ቅዱሳን በእግዚአብሔር ፍቅር እንደ ሻማ መቅለጣቸውን ያስታውሳሉ።

Oil: Symbolizes the Holy Spirit. Candles: Reminds us that saints were consumed with the fire of God’s love like melting wax.

7. ሥዕላት / Icons & Colors

ቀለማት፡

  • ነጭ (ንጽሕና) | ሰማያዊ (ሰማያዊ ሕይወት)
  • ቀይ (ደም/መስዋዕት) | ወርቅ (ዘላለማዊነት)
  • አረንጓዴ (ተስፋ/ዕድገት) | ጥቁር (መመንነን)

Color Symbolism:

  • White: Purity/Grace
  • Blue: Heavens/Divine Life
  • Red: Life/Sacrifice
  • Gold: Truth/Eternity
  • Green: Hope/Revival
  • Black: Renunciation/Mystery

Icon of the Annunciation: The Three Stars on St. Mary's shoulders represent her perpetual virginity (before, during, and after birth).
